Our Audio Show Deluxe Experience…
March 27, 2023If you own a turntable costing over £500 and are considering an upgrade, we recommend trialling a set of Stillpoints Mini V2s to decouple your existing turntable first.
Simon undertook a home demonstration during a visit to sunny St. Leonards, East Sussex, at the beginning of February ’23, armed with an assortment of products and accessories to improve the performance of Mr P’s hi-fi system.

The home demonstration process involved a cartridge and phono stage upgrade, followed by interconnect cable, amplifier and speaker change. Each step of the way, our upgrade recommendations improved the sound of the music choices during our home demo service. The addition of a suitably sized REL subwoofer provided delicate underpinning of low frequency bass extension and improved depth within the soundstage.
Armed with Stillpoints Mini V2s (and not afraid to use them), Simon positioned three Minis between the plinth of Mr. P’s Rega Planar 3 turntable and his Atacama Equinox glass shelf. Prepping the Rega RB330 tonearm in readiness and quickly returning to sit in comfort for the beginning of our first demo track, it was immediately clear (pardon the pun) that the music had more athleticism, with less thickening in the bass and midband. Delicate passages and subtle detail had a light and airy feel with more decay instead of a dull flattened tone when played previously.
The million-dollar question is: Should you purchase a ‘better’ turntable instead of spending £500 or so on a set of Stillpoints Mini V2s? Well, please get in touch and arrange to have a listen for yourself!
