Walnut wood, cast zinc, manganese steel, and vegan leather complement one another to form a light, durable frame. In a fast-moving tech landscape, Meze relied on proven basics. The 50 mm dynamic driver, built and tuned with precision, enabled engineers to extend speed, accuracy, and dynamic range.

To reach the acoustic targets for the 109 PRO, Meze concentrated on research and material choices for each driver part. The dome, made from carbon fibre-reinforced cellulose composite, delivers high frequencies with clarity and detail. More durable than standard options in dynamic drivers yet light, this material helps limit resonances that might cause harmonic distortion.

The torus around the dome uses beryllium-coated semicrystalline polymer, 22 microns thick. Applying the beryllium layer via Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) raised stiffness and durability while keeping the driver light enough for rapid response. These traits are strengthened by corrugations on the torus, carved at a 45.5° angle.Beryllium’s strong damping reduces unwanted resonances, giving the Meze 109 PRO a neutral, vivid, and transparent quality. The diaphragm sits inside a high-precision aluminium frame alongside the neodymium magnet. Built with CNC machining, the frame provides rigidity, strength, and thermal stability to keep the surface flat. A copper-zinc alloy stabiliser around the membrane absorbs vibrations and lowers distortion. Through its open-back design, the Meze 109 PRO feels vivid and exciting, helping listeners connect with music more deeply.

The spider-shaped structure and acoustically transparent grille inside the ear cup expose the driver from both sides, forming the most open pattern from Meze so far. Following anthropometric principles, Meze placed the driver at a precise angle and distance from the ear for an ideal anatomical fit. Velour cushions wrap the ears comfortably, creating an optimal seal for natural sound. Because velour is softer and more breathable than leather, it reduces sweat and overheating during long sessions. The self-adjusting headband spreads weight evenly for any head shape and size.
