Amazing Installations
If you’ve worked with, or even just chatted with our team in passing at Home Media HQ, you’ll know just how strong our passion for music and high-quality audio experiences is. No matter the space you have, the budget you’re working with, or how you prefer to listen to your prized music collection, we’re proud to use our expertise – plus our knowledge of and access to the best audio equipment available on the market – to tailor the right installation to really level up your experience at home.
Here are just a handful of installations from the last few years that spring to mind in line with our ‘memorable moments’ series…
Hi-Fi Fit for a King
How many of us can say we’ve worked in a real-life castle? Well, the Home Media team count ourselves lucky to be among that number! Based on 42 acres of woodland on the banks of the River Medway, Allington Castle is based just a few miles away from Home Media HQ. A medieval castle that dates back to the 12th century, the building is now a private residence but is utilised as a film location and exclusive wedding venue.
At the time, the current audio system within the space was in need of a full upgrade, and that project was undertaken by Home Media’s John Sanderson, who took the time to assess the space before suggesting a solution that would work for everyone involved. The installation saw the space levelled up with a brand-new integrated system, which included the HEOS Drive HS2 – providing the ideal multi-room, multi-channel solution for the space, ensuring amazing quality audio could be enjoyed across the site.
Garden Audio
Outdoor audio can be a challenge at the best of times, but especially when unwanted background noise becomes disruptive. For this Home Media customer, a beautiful garden was overshadowed by the constant sound of traffic from a busy road running behind the property. Despite investing in acoustic fencing and more to reduce the noise, the family still found it difficult to fully enjoy their outdoor sanctuary. A bespoke solution was required to overcome the background noise and restore the customer’s sense of peace and harmony to their space.
This installation centred around the Sonance Garden System, featuring two independent zones of discreet landscape speakers and subwoofers positioned throughout the garden. By introducing carefully selected ambient nature sounds along the rear boundary, the system could successfully, and significantly, reduce the impact of road noise, while a separate zone provided high-quality music playback for entertaining and everyday enjoyment. The result was a flexible outdoor audio system that enhanced the overall garden experience, transforming the space into an environment the family could truly enjoy once again.
Going the Extra Mile
While many of our projects take place close to home, we occasionally find ourselves venturing further afield in pursuit of providing the perfect listening experience… but we’re always happy to go the extra mile for our customers! One such project saw the team head to down Bournemouth to support a customer in his search for the ideal hi-fi upgrade.
Having previously worked with this customer on a loudspeaker demonstration, we were later invited back to arrange an in-home demo of Rega’s flagship Isis CD player, which we expertly installed to allow him to spend time listening in the comfort of his own surroundings before making a decision. The demo was a success; we later returned to complete the installation of the new player alongside a dedicated headphone amplifier to enabling late-night listening sessions without disturbing the rest of the household.
What began as a simple product demonstration ultimately highlighted the value of experiencing hi-fi equipment in the environment where it will be used every day. The result was a system that delivered exactly what our customer was looking for: a more engaging and enjoyable connection to the music he loves.
Another Home Demo Success
With so much information available online, researching a hi-fi upgrade has never been easier… but as one Home Media customer discovered, finding the right product for your home isn’t always as straightforward as simply reading reviews. After purchasing and returning three different amplifiers from his original supplier, all of which failed to deliver the performance he was looking for, frustration was beginning to set in. That’s when he turned to Home Media for help.
Following a visit to assess the room and discuss his requirements, Simon and Chris recommended a complete system built around a Gold Note amplifier, Harbeth loudspeakers, Solidsteel stands and a REL subwoofer. An in-home demonstration was arranged, giving the customer the opportunity to experience the system in his own surroundings before committing.
The demonstration proved an immediate success. The system was subsequently installed as a permanent fixture, alongside a new cabinet to house the equipment, transforming both the look of the room and the listening experience itself. After three unsuccessful attempts to find the right upgrade alone, with our help the customer finally discovered a system that allowed him to sit back and enjoy his music collection exactly as he’d hoped.
We’ve supplied and installed countless hi-fi and home cinema components across hundreds of projects throughout the past 30 years. Each one brings its own challenges, rewards and memories – but we usually find that what’s always most memorable are the people we’ve worked with and the connections we’ve made along the way.
Throughout our 30th year of Home Media at Union Street, Maidstone, we will continue to look back and reflect on our most memorable moments in business… watch this space and follow along on social media for more to come.
