ATC Loudspeaker & Wellfloat Delta Installation
June 1, 2023Living in a comfortable end-of-terrace house would be enough to satisfy most folk – unless that is, you have a desire to enjoy your music with the volume set to 11… Keeping an eagle eye out for when the neighbours are leaving or returning home becomes tedious after a while, so what is the solution?
After consultation with the Home Media team, and with a bit of space in the garden going spare, our customer Mr L decided to employ the services of a local building firm to build a sound-proofed, dedicated music room outside amongst the daisies. With internal dimensions of approximately 16m square, there is ample space for a chair, air conditioning and a pile of CDs.
And the system? Mr L has upgraded his system with our help over the past two years comprising of the following products:
- ATC SCM-40 speakers
- IsoAcoustics GAIA III Isolation Feet
- 2 x REL T/9x subwoofers
- Benchmark DAC3 HGC Preamplifier/DAC
- Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T CD transport and
- 2 x ISOL-8 PowerLine Axis mains distribution blocks

The only original parts of Mr L’s system that were not upgraded were four Audiolab 8200M mono power amplifiers and speaker cable.
With the last lick of paint applied and new carpet fitted, the build of the dedicated listening room was complete. Our team commenced the transfer of Mr L’s system throughout the spring of 2023, the only new addition being a new SolidSteel S4-2 double width equipment stand.
With the newly erected build, restricting sound leakage has dealt with minimising disturbance to and from the neighbours and low flying aircraft. But we also needed to consider how the system sounded in the room. We shall be returning in the near future to experiment with the placement of Acustica Applicata Room Treatment to bring out the best in the system and we’ll provide you with an update soon…
