The two-outlet Shunyata Research Typhon T2 Power Distributor represents a years-long evolution in science that makes it a one-of-a-kind product with three dynamic and unique functions. When the Typhon T2 is connected as a stand-alone two-outlet reference power distributor it will super-charge the performance of even the world’s most demanding amplifiers. The Typhon T2 also comes equipped to receive an optional Performance or Reference level umbilical, allowing it to be connected in-line to any Shunyata power-distributor as a performance force-multiplier of the first order. Lastly, simple, reference-level two or three-component systems won’t find a better solution for performance than the Typhon T2. Typhon T2 is guaranteed to elevate the performance of amplifiers or entire systems beyond any and all expectation.

Typhon T2 represents a dramatic five-year refinement of the original, critically, and commercially acclaimed Typhon and Typhon QR models. At almost half the size and price of the Typhon QR, the Typhon T2 includes two high-current outlets that allow for in-line connection to even the most current-hungry amplifiers. The patented QRBB and NIC technologies within the T2 have been radically improved to deliver an unprecedented performance upgrade when connected in series with a Shunyata Research Denali 6000S/v2 model or virtually any other Shunyata Research power distributor.

The Typhon T2 model can be used as a stand-alone reference power distributor for any type of amplifier no matter how demanding, or other remote reference-grade source electronics. The Typhon T2 is housed in the same chassis footprint as the Denali 6000S/v2, making it easy to stack and connect from the wall, then via its umbilical to the power distributor. The T2 can also be used with the original Denali 6000s/v1 or any Shunyata Research power distributor below the Everest 8000. No matter the application or combination, the Typhon T2 will deliver a jaw-dropping component-level performance upgrade to any system, no matter how small or large the system may be.

The revelatory improvements that are readily apparent when adding a Typhon T2 to any system include an immediate and dramatic increase in dynamic expression; as if you added wattage to amplifiers or headroom and scale to your system’s dynamic capability. The T2 delivers on the promise of enhanced timing, improved imaging, and a revelatory increase in the three-dimensional presence of instruments and voice in space. These are not subtle enhancements but are instead easy to hear, immediate gains similar to making a massive component upgrade. Perhaps the most notable improvement is that along with all these improvements comes an unforced, organic ease and noise-less background which permeates the space in and around your favourite recordings.

Shunyata Research has optimised every part and technology that goes into the Typhon T2 with a single-minded approach to optimal performance. An obvious case in point are the two models of umbilical cables ideally suited for high-current transfer. The umbilical connection on the Typhon T2 is a one-of-a-kind, custom manufactured military grade twist-lock. This was chosen for its superior connection integrity, insuring maximum current transfer and the ultimate in performance. There are two distinct models of umbilical cable options. The Performance model umbilical, featuring 8 gauge VTX conductors, allows the Typhon T2 to dramatically impact every area of performance. All of Shunyata Research’s early testing was completed using this Performance umbilical. For more extreme applications, such as ultra high-current amps or for massive systems, the 8 gauge VTX-Ag Reference model will match up well with systems using Shunyata Research’s top Sigma or Omega model power cords. Either power umbilical when connected and used with the Typhon T2 will unleash a system’s full potential.

Technology

Dynamic Transient Current Delivery (DTCD™ Analysis) is a technique that measures instantaneous current through low impedance electrical conductors and contacts. Shunyata Research uses it to optimize the design, specification and construction of parts and materials to ensure maximum current delivery performance. Each part, conductor, noise circuit and material allows for maximum throughput of instantaneous current.

Listeners will experience earth-shaking low-frequency performance from even the highest-current amplifiers as well as dynamic contrasts unheard of outside of a live event. More than any other design parameter, Shunyata Research’s skill in eliminating resistance and maximizing peak-current delivery is unmatched.

The QR/BB™ technology module possesses the ability to act as an electric charge reservoir, meaning it stores and releases energy in a manner that improves a component’s access to instantaneous current. Dynamics are actually improved reducing any sense of dynamic strain often heard from amplifiers that are connected with lesser power cables.

The sonic result is a lifelike presentation of timing and dynamic contrasts in sound that cannot be replicated by ANY other means. In layman’s terms, it acts like a super-charger for amplifiers, pre-amps, DACs and CD players. Patent Number: US 10,031,536.

Traditional power conditioners are designed to block incoming noise from outside the home, but do not address the noise that is generated by the electronic components themselves. In fact, most conditioners reflect noise back into other components connected to the power conditioner. CCI™ noise reduction filter (Component-to-Component Isolation) is one of the most significant but often overlooked aspects to power system performance. The CCI™ filter consists of a proprietary multi-stage filter that reduces electrical noise and interference generated by a component’s power supply.

The NIC™ Technology (Noise Isolation Chamber) is a patented technology that reduces high frequency power line noise. NICs™ use a non-reactive ferroelectric substance that actually absorbs high frequency noise. This reduces noise without any of the negatives associated with power filter coils, capacitors and transformers. Patent Number: US 8,658,892.

One of our fundamental design imperatives is to ensure life-long performance and durability. Long-term exposure to air can oxidize and corrode wiring and sensitive electronic components. All of the filters, PCBs, connections and internal wiring are contained within a monolithic construction enclosure and then potted with ceramic materials that hermetically seal the contents. This protects the circuits and wiring from humidity and oxidation, and eliminates internal vibration between components. This unique construction methodology delivers exceptional and consistent performance that will not degrade over time.

Significant amounts of noise exist on the ground plane of power lines. The ground wires can act as antennae, picking up electrical noise that can degrade the performance or operation of the electronic components. The CGS — Chassis Ground System is a proprietary feature developed by Shunyata Research to significantly reduce ground-plane noise; improving low-level resolution and clarity.
Many Shunyata Research power conditioners have one to four terminals that allow all system component chassis to be interconnected to a common earth ground. We offer several models of CGC chassis grounding cables each made to your custom length and termination requirements. Click here to read the CGS Application Guide (PDF).

Shunyata Research’s  ArNi® conductors are designed to be the finest quality wire available for power and audio purposes. They start life using the highest purity copper available – OFE C10100 (or Ohno single crystal). Then they are formed into “virtual hollow tubes” that we call VTX™.  The core of the conductor is completely hollow forcing the current to only travel through the periphery of the conductor, thereby eliminating skin effects and random eddy currents. And finally, every ArNi® wire undergoes our proprietary KPIP™ process.

Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process includes four days of continuous KPIP™ processing to dramatically reduce burn-in time and significantly improve sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation.
