The DS Audio SC 001 Sonic Cleaning Brush uses high speed sonic vibration—approximately 11,000 vibrations per minute—to physically lift and remove dust from deep within record grooves. Unlike conventional brushes, its vibrating bristles penetrate the groove structure, dislodging even microscopic debris. Clean grooves restore the record’s original sound quality.

Optimised bristle material selected through quantitative testing
To determine the ideal bristle material for the SC 001, we visualised dust on record surfaces using a high sensitivity camera and measured the amount of dust remaining before and after cleaning. Multiple candidate materials were tested and compared, and only the one with the highest dust removal performance was adopted. True “optimal bristles for vibration” can only be identified through measurement under real vibration conditions. This measurement driven design philosophy is the foundation of the SC 001’s superior cleaning performance—surpassing that of conventional brushes.

Dual stage static electricity suppression using low static material and conductive fibres
Records accumulate static electricity when removed from their sleeves and again during cleaning. Tests showed that conventional brushes without static control features barely reduced static charge and often increased it due to friction. Even brushes with static reduction functions only achieved partial suppression.

The SC 001 solves this with a two stage system:
1. Low static bristle material minimises the generation of new static electricity.
2. Conductive fibres integrated into the vibration drive unit discharge existing static buildup.
This dual layer approach delivers static elimination performance far beyond that of competing brushes.
