The Accuphase E-480 integrated amplifier is the successor to the E-470 and is the 11th generation of “Accuphase Core Product”. The preamplifier section of the E-480 features the AAVA volume control, which has no variable resistors within the signal path. As a result of the audio signal not being attenuated by a rotary resistor, optimum signal to noise ratio and low distortion is maintained throughout the entire volume range.
The power amplifier section of the Accuphase E-480 contains the same circuit configuration as the A-75 Class-A stereo power amplifier. The output impedance is decreased by three parallel push-pull final stage arrangement of MOS-FET’s.
The E-480 features a MOS-FET switch for speaker protection, instead of mechanical relay as more commonly used. The MOS-FET design improves the Damping-Factor, reliability and sound quality as a result of the inclusion of the higher grade circuit.
The speaker terminals are connected to the PC-board directly, so that the signal path is shorter to obtain the low impedance.
